FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Sept. 19, 2017) -- To close the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic,
Gabrielle Gibson led the Brown and Gold with the lowest individual event score in Cowgirl history. She finished fourth overall and turned in rounds of 73 (+1), 71 (-1) and 68 (-4) for a total 212 (-4). As a team, UW placed eighth with a final three-round score of 888 (+24), which also happens to be the lowest team 54-hole event score in program history.
Gibson and Molly Black previously held the lowest individual 54-hole record at UW, before Gibson shattered the score on Tuesday. In October of 2015 at the Denver Ron Moore Intercollegiate, Gibson shot a 215 (-1), while Black fired the same score at the CSU Ptarmigan Ram Classic in 2009. The Cowgirls shot an 891 (+27) at the Colorado Heather Farr Memorial in 2008 to hold the previous team 54-hole event record.
"I'm so proud of the team and the standard they have set for this program," Cowgirl head coach
Josey Stender said. "Gabrielle (Gibson) played with such focus and confidence throughout the tournament. She has worked so hard, I'm excited for her."
Gibson, a native of Temecula, Calif., recorded six birdies and two bogeys for her record-breaking performance during the final round. Her third-round score of 68 (-4) tied the lowest individual round in UW history, a record that Gibson and Black also already owned. It marked the fifth top-ten finish of Gibson's career and third within the top-five. Junior
Sarah Hankins signed for a 78 (+6) on Tuesday, which brought her three-day total to 224 (+8) and earned her a share of 39th. Hankins had two birdies and six bogeys to close out the tournament.
Sophomore
Erin Sargent once again shot a 77 (+5) on Tuesday. With a first round score of 73 (+1), and a second round 77 (+5), Sargent tied for 49th with a three-day total 227 (+11). She recorded five bogeys to conclude the first tournament of 2017.
Junior
Megan Knadler finished one shot behind Sargent to tie for 58th on Tuesday. Knadler recorded three birdies and eight bogeys to finish with a final-round 77 (+5) and a 228 (+12). Redshirt freshman

New Mexico State fired a final-round 278 (-10) on Tuesday to claim the team title with an 856 (-8). San Jose State was two shots off for second place, while San Francisco shot an 872 (+8) for third. Suthavee Chanachai of NMSU finished with a 205 (-11) for the individual crown, as Colorado State's Katrina Prendergast and Abegail Arevalo of SJSU were three shots behind to tie for second. Wyoming also finished ahead of two other MW teams, as Nevada took 11th with an 899 (+35) and Boise State claimed 14th with a score of 913 (+49).
