LOGAN, Utah – Scott Carter ended his final conference championship meet as a Wyoming Cowboy with a Mountain West championship in the triple jump, leaping 51 feet, 5.75 inches on his final attempt to secure the individual title as the 2017 MW outdoor championships came to a close in Logan, Utah on Saturday. The Cowboys finished the meet sixth in the field of seven teams with 81.5 points, while the Cowgirls were 10th in the field of 11 teams with 36 points.

Bryan Berryhill said on Saturday. "Winning the conference championship on his last jump was pretty special."
Carter scored 23 of the Cowboys' 81.5 points in the meet, matching his individual contribution from the 2017 MW indoor championships. He also took fourth place overall in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday, clocking a time of 14.16 seconds, the No. 7 time on the UW all-time list. Fellow senior
Jordan Charles collected another all-MW honor in the event with a third-place finish at 13.93.
Jace Marx rounded out his solid season with a fourth-place finish in the men's 100-meter dash, again setting a new personal best at 10.52 seconds to move into a tie for 6th on the UW all-time list for the event.
Sam Kirkeide was right behind, taking fifth at 10.64.
Kevin Blackett also scored two points for the Cowboys, taking seventh in the men's 400 meters with a time of 48.68.
"Jace (Marx) is doing a really good job," Berryhill said. "He seems to get better each and every meet."
On the women's side of the sprints,
Jerayah Davis placed fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.56 and seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 24.26. The women's 4x100-meter relay squad placed fourth in a talented field, clocking in at 45.69.
Ricky Faure earned all-conference honors in the 800 meters with a third-place finish, clocking a season-best, altitude-adjusted time of 1:47.93.
Bryce Ailshie followed in fifth, checking in at 1:49.46.
Cassidy Meade moved up to No. 2 on the UW all-time list with her fifth-place finish in the 800 meters, posting an altitude-adjusted time of 2:08.13.
Kerry White was sixth, also clocking a personal record time of 2:08.39.
Jonah Henry had a solid finish in the men's 5,000 meters, taking seventh with a raw time of 15:29.06. On the women's side,
Megan Brunette placed ninth in the event with a new altitude-adjusted personal record of 16:36.70, moving up to No. 5 on the UW all-time list with her time.
Lauren Hamilton posted a personal best in the women's 1,500 meters, taking ninth with an altitude-adjusted time of 4:29.17. Her time is No. 6 on the UW all-time list.
Freshman
Hap Frketich provided another highlight for the Cowboys in the field, scoring two points and taking seventh place in the men's javelin throw with a toss of 187-4.
Garrett Lynch took eighth place in the shot put, throwing 52-10.
"Overall, we had some good things happen," Berryhill said. "I thank our seniors for everything they've done for the program. Moving forward, we just have to continue to get more depth."
Any Wyoming individuals in the West Region's top 48 in their events will advance to the NCAA West Preliminary Round for a shot at qualifying for the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. First-round action begins in Austin, Texas on May 25 and will conclude on May 27.
