EUGENE, Ore. – Wyoming
men's golf scored the second-lowest round of any team on the final day of the
Duck Invitational to tie for seventh with a score of 881 (+29).
Among
some of the top talent in the nation, junior Drew McCullough notched the lowest
round in the field on Tuesday with a 68 (-3). The mark matched McCullough's
lowest round of the year, and lifted him into the top 10. With five birdies and
just two bogeys, he climbed 15 spots on the final day and finished with a 213
(E) to tie for seventh. McCullough's 11 birdies over three rounds were the
fourth-most of anyone in the field, behind three members of tournament winner,
No. 5 Oregon.
Junior Glenn Workman finished the day with a 71 (E), one of 15 players in the field of
87 to shoot even par or better in the final round. Notching a birdie on his last
hole, he capped off a performance that boosted him 13 spots to tie for 23rd. Junior Quintin Pope also played his best round of the tournament, tallying a 74 (+3).
The Cowboys finished the day with a team score of 289 (+5), their lowest of the
meet by six strokes.
"Today
we looked really solid," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "We just have to
continue to build and keep getting better. We'll have some tough rounds and
some great rounds, but today we worked hard and I'm pleased."
Wyoming
faces a quick turnaround with The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford University,
