Cowboys Climb Five Spots on Team Leaderboard in Maui

LAHAINA, Hawai'i – The University of Wyoming men's golf team used a second-round score of 290 (+6) to climb five spots into a tie for seventh place after Saturday's second round at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic. John Murdock and Glenn Workman each signed for a 72 (+1) to lead the Cowboy lineup on Saturday, while Drew McCullough is tied for sixth place on the individual leaderboard after adding a second-round 73 (+2) to his first-round 63 (-8). As a team, the Pokes have a 54-hole score of 568 (E), seven strokes back of sixth-place Georgia.

Murdock and Workman each used three second-round birdies to climb the individual leaderboard. Murdock jumped 27 spots and is currently tied for 52^ndplace along with teammate Arron Lickteig at 145 (+3). Lickteig fired a second-round 73 (+2) on Saturday, while Workman's 72 (+1) helped him jump 30 spots into a tie for 68^th place with a score of 147 (+5).

Freshman Carl Underwood, playing as an individual, rebounded from a first-round 83 (+12) by recording Wyoming's lowest score on Saturday at 70 (-1). Underwood dropped in four birdies during Saturday's round to move up 17 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 98^th place.

Senior Quintin Pope is tied for 61^st place after posting a 76 (+5) on Saturday. Sophomore Dan Starzinski, playing as an individual, holds a share of 61^st along with Pope after signing for a 74 (+3) on Saturday.

Battling windy conditions, the Pokes posted the seventh-lowest team score during Saturday's round at the Royal Ka'anapali Course at the Ka'anapali Golf Club in Lahaina. LSU is in the lead with a 36-hole score of 543 (-25), while California is three strokes behind at 546 (-22) and South Carolina is four strokes back at 547 (-21). Rounding out the top five are Kansas and Houston.

Wyoming is paired with Georgia, Indiana and Kansas for Sunday's final round, with a shotgun start scheduled for 12:30 p.m. MT as the Pokes attempt to gain ground in the team standings once again.
