SARASOTA, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2017) – Senior Gabrielle Gibson set the pace during the first round of the 40th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational on Sunday. Gibson closed out the day with a 71 (-1) to own a share of first-place with two rounds remaining. The Cowgirls are currently tenth of the 15-team field with a 305 (+17) after the opening round.

"Gabrielle (Gibson) played very mature and patient today on a tough set up," Cowgirl head coach Josey Stender said. "I am very proud of her great start. This has been a learning experience for us as Florida golf is much different than what we are used to. We had a lot of good opportunities on a long golf course, but there is little room for error around the greens. We are close with a number of teams and if we can continue to play tough despite the expected weather tomorrow, we should be able to move up."

The Temecula, Calif., native birdied the fifth, seventh and 12th holes on the par 72, 6,288 yard Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club to hold the lead with Ning Phongpaiboon of South Florida. She'll be competing for the third top-five finish of the season during tomorrow's final two rounds.

Junior Megan Knadler posted the second-best round for the Brown and Gold on Sunday. She carded a 77 (+5) to sit tied for 37th, while junior Sarah Hankins is one shot behind and tied for 48th. Sophomore Erin Sargent posted her best three-round total in UW's last tournament and closed out Sunday's 18 with a 79 (+7). Sargent owns a share of 58th after the first round.

Redshirt freshman Caitlyn Skavdahl signed for an 81 (+9) to round out the Cowgirls lineup. She is currently tied for 67th with two rounds remaining. Sargent, Knadler and Skavdahl each added two birdies during the opening round.

With only the first round complete, Boston College has the team lead with a 294 (+6), as South Florida is one shot back and Southern Miss sitting third with a 297 (+9).

At the completion of the first round, it was announced the final 36 holes will be played on Monday with weather expected to move into the area. Follow @wyo_golf for any further changes.
