The University of Wyoming swimming and diving teams finished its two-day meet with Louisiana State and host Northern Arizona on Saturday. On the second day, the Cowboys defeated Southeastern Conference member LSU by a score of 131-112 at the Wall Aqautic Center in Flagstaff, Ariz., while the Cowgirls bested NAU 144-99, but fell to the Lady Tigers 92-151.

Wyoming again won double-digit events on the day. UW claimed victories in ten of the 24 total events. Six of those ten wins were pool records. The Pokes got things started by setting a new pool record in the 200 medley relay. A team of Austin Layman, Kyle Scalise, George Eglesfield, and Bryce Carter brought home a top time of 1:41.40. Ryan Nelson broke yet another poll record in the 400 IM, as he touched with a final of 3:25.18 just before Slade Sheaffer continued UW's winning ways by securing the top time in the 200 freestyle with a mark of 1:54.34.

"I am very proud of the way the guys competed," UW head coach Tom Johnson said. "Especially how it came down to the last couple of events. It was a big win for our program. Kyle (Scalise) was very impressive today, even the LSU coaches noticed. The Cowgirls swam a lot better than yesterday. I'm glad they were able to hold off NAU on both days. I am happy with the results and the way they hit the pool. I think this meet will prepare them mentally and physically for the challenges the rest of the season will have."

The very next event was topped by Emily Ridout as she continued her successful weekend by winning the 50 freestyle. She posted a time of 26.20. The third consecutive event that went in favor of Wyoming was the 50 freestyle. Bryce Carter edged out Liam Metzsch with a time of 23.26 to claim victory. Metzsch secured a final time of 23.59 in the 50 freestyle.

Abby Sullivan excelled on day two by winning the 100 backstroke and setting a pool record with a time of 1:02.77 just a couple events before Eric Oleson set a pool record in the 400 freestyle. Oleson's final time of 4:05.19 was over five seconds faster than teammate Ryan Nelson who finished second with a mark of 4:10.55.

Kyle White brought home the eighth victory of the day for Wyoming by winning the 100 IM. He set a pace of 58.22. Kyle Scalise set the next pool record for UW by swimming a 1:02.65 in the 100 breaststroke. White and Scalise sustained their winning ways by leading the Pokes to its final victory in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:25.18. They were joined by Sheaffer and Carter as it was the sixth and final pool record UW had broken on the second day of the meet.

On the diving boards, Kari Campbell and Keely Bishop finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1-meter diving event. Austin Rettinghouse was the top Cowboy on the 3-meter event for UW. He finished in third place on the day.

Molly Coonce came away with two second place finishes on the afternoon. She swam a 1:02.26 in the 100 butterfly and a 1:13.60 in the 100 breaststroke. Ryan Ball also claimed second in the 400 IM with a mark of 4:29.45.

The Cowgirls return to the pool on Friday against Colorado State. The meet will begin at 5 p.m. MT, while the Pokes will continue its schedule on Nov. 12 against Air Force.
