Biography

SENIOR (2014-15): An All-Mountain West conference selection in doubles for the first time in her career. Went 6-6 during the fall in singles action winning her first four of five matches. In doubles play, she finished with a 5-7 mark playing with four different doubles partners. Had a solid spring going 13-5 in dual play to finish 19-14 overall playing mainly at the sixth position. Recorded a 4-1 mark in MW play. In doubles play, she finished 18-14 overall, going 11-5 overall and 4-1 league action with playing partner Alma Espinosa. She ranks 12th all-time in singles wins (56) and 15th in doubles victories (47).

JUNIOR (2013-14): Went 5-2 in double action with two different players during the fall. She and Alma Espinosa won the Air Force Invite and their opening match at the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament. In singles play, she finished with a 5-5 record. In the spring, she went 10-9 overall mainly at the number four position to go 17-16 overall. She went 3-2 in Mountain West action with wins over Air Force, Colorado State and Utah State. Gecheva and Espinosa finished 12-10 overall and 8-9 in the spring, while recording a 3-2 mark in MW play. An Academic All-MW selection.

SOPHOMORE (2012-13): Had a solid start to the fall in singles play as she won her first six matches and went 9-2 overall. Won the BYU Invitational and reached the finals of the Air Force Invitational. Recorded a 3-1 record at the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament. In doubles action, she and partner Alma Espinosa went 3-4 during the fall. They went 2-1 at the Air Force Invitational. During the spring, she went 6-6 overall including winning her first four of five matches. Finished 15-8 overall in singles matches and played in one conference match against Air Force. In doubles action, she went 2-0 with Espinosa to finish the year 5-4 overall. She earned Academic All-MW and Scholar Athlete honors for the first time in her career.

FRESHMAN (2011-12): Started off her Cowgirl career with a 4-5 record in the fall. She earned her first career victory over Catherine Parenteau of Arkansas (9/23/11). Qualified for the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament and went 2-1. In doubles action, she went 7-4 playing with three different playing partners. She and Sasa Nemcova went 5-1 winning their first five matches in a row. They reached the round of 16 at the Mountain Regional Tournament. During the spring, she played in two singles and five doubles matches. Went 1-1 in singles to finish 5-6 overall and 3-2 in doubles to record a 10-6 mark for the year.

HIGH SCHOOL: Gecheva joined the Cowgirl program after a career at Ricards Lodge High School. She had a county ranking of sixth in Surrey County, while holding a senior LTA national ranking of 55 on the AEGON British Tennis Rankings. During 2010-11, she had three Top 16 finishes on the AEGON British Tour, along with two finishes in the Top 32. In 2010, she played for the Surrey Ladies at the National County Championships. She also won the 18-under Surrey County Championship in singles and doubles (2008) and the 16-under in singles (2007).

PERSONAL: Born December 30, 1991 in Le Bach, Saar Land, Germany. Gecheva is the daughter of Georgi and Pepa Gecheva. Has one brother, Theodor. She is majoring in animal and veterinary science (pre-vet).
