Blake Isakson is entering his second full season as an assistant coach with both the men’s and women’s golf programs. He was hired in the spring of 2023.
Isakson helped the Cowboys qualify for their second consecutive National Golf Invitational (NGI) during the 2023-24 season. This occurred on the heals of a seventh-place finish at the Mountain West Conference Championships. Isakson helped guide 15 Cowboys to a top-25 finish in 2023-24 with the high-water mark being Kristof Panke who had a pair of sixth-place finishes, one at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and the other at the NGI. Jaren Calkins also finished sixth at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
For three consecutive seasons from 2020-22, Isakson was selected by U.S. Kids Golf as one of its Top 50 Kids Coaches of the Year Award recipients while working at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Ariz. By being named a Top Kids Coach for three consecutive years, Isakson earned the distinction of Master Kids Coach from U.S. Kids Golf in 2022. Along with the coaching awards, he received the 2022 PGA Game Changer Award for Player Engagement.
Before joining the Wyoming coaching staff, Isakson spent time working as the Director of Instruction at Perfect Circle Golf using his 18 years of teaching and coaching experience to help grow the game. Over those years, he has helped to start golf programs at numerous high schools in Arizona. Isakson has also excelled as a player most recently qualifying for the National Club Pro Championship.
Isakson was a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American and an Academic-All American at Phoenix College before transferring to Arizona State where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance in 2007.
