COLUMBIA, Mo. (Sept. 25, 2026) – The Cowgirl cross country team ran all personal bests for a team seventh-place finish in the Gold Invitational 6k while the Cowboys ran to 13th as a team in the Gold 8k at the Gans Creek Classic, Friday in Columbia, Mo.

COWGIRLS
In the Gold Invitational 6k, the Cowgirls placed seventh with 246 points (18-44-52-63-69), all finishing with personal-best times. The team placed ahead of Tennessee, which received votes in the National Coaches' poll, and Utah State who was picked above them in the week one Mountain Region poll.

Senior Eowyn Dalbec posted a personal best in the 6k, crossing 18th with a time of 20:03.1. Her team-leading finish moved her up to No. 2 in the program cross country record book. This is also Dalbec's first 6k under 21 minutes, a record best by over a minute.

Crossing the line next for Wyoming was junior Muriel Jones with a 44th-place finish. Her time of 20:38.8 was also a personal best and put her No. 13 on the all-time Wyoming list. Like Dalbec, this was also her first sub-21-minute 6k. Jones would improve her standing in the race at each 1,000-meter mark, including rising nine spots in the final 1k.

Transfer junior Sydney Morrell ran her first 6k as a Cowgirl and came in 52nd. Going with the trend of the team, she ran a personal best of 20:43.2, improving on her previous best of 20:53.3 set at last year's Gans Creek Classic. She is now tied at No. 15 in program history.

Senior Hailey Uhre finished next with a time of 20:51.4 for 63rd overall. She ran a personal best and her first finish under 21 minutes since the 2023 NCAA Mountain Regional. While she lost some ground in the back half of the race, Uhre still showed she could gain crucial points for the Cowgirls.

Closing out the scoring five was sophomore Claire Engelhardt. She crossed the line at 20:58.7 for 69th overall. With a personal-best time and first 6k under 21 minutes, she secured a record-breaking meet for the Cowgirls. Engelhardt rose in placement at each kilometer marker, even surpassing 47 runners at the halfway point of the race.

Five other Cowgirls ran in the Gold 6k, all with the best runs of their collegiate careers. Junior Hanan Aldelemy crossed the line 91st at 21:11.1, rising 14 places in the final kilometer. Junior Brionna Holso placed right behind Aldelemy in 92nd with a time of 21:11.8. In 97th, Gracie Uhre improved on each marker to finish with a time of 21:13.2 while junior Ella Unrein took 114th at 21:23.5 and sophomore Julia Rudolph crossed at 21:48.3 for 164th in the 251-person field.

In the Black Open 6k, the four Wyoming Cowgirls all finished in the top 11. Sophomore Elliana Zock led the team in sixth with a time of 21:34.6. This was her first 6k under 22 minutes.

The rest of the team finished one after another in 9-10-11. Senior Madelyn Blazo finished with a time of 21:37.3 for ninth, freshman Madison Antonino placed 10th with a time of 21:40.5 in her first 6k and freshman Nadhia Campos ran a time of 21:49.7 for 11th, her first 6k under 23 minutes.

COWBOYS
The Cowboys placed 13th in the Gold Invitational 8k with 338 points (42-52-73-82-95).

Freshman Habtamu Wetzel led the team once again with a time of 23:41.5 in his first 8k for 42nd overall. His time was just outside the No. 15 program time of 21:38.

Senior Aidan Ramsey finished next with a time of 23:51.7 for 52nd. He set a personal best and ran his first under 24 minutes. He rose in his standing at each kilometer marker after starting in 104th.

Junior Anton Martinez ran to 73rd at 24:02.5 and added 72 team points. In his first 8k in the Brown and Gold, he ran his career first sub-25-minute race.

Transfer sophomore Zak Ferguson made a big jump after the 2k mark and improved his standing all the way to 82nd. His time of 24:05.6 was a personal best and was over a minute jump from last week's meet.

The final finisher for the Cowboy scoring five was freshman Owen Thiel. He picked up the final 93 points with a time of 24:14.5 for 95th overall.

Five others finished in the men's Gold 8k. Junior Solomon Holden-Betts finished 130th with a time of 24:33.8 for a personal best. Freshmen Owen Conley and Jackson Davis ran to 146th and 160th with times of 24:43.6 and 24:52.9, respectively.

Junior Austin Akers crossed the line 206th at 25:17.5 while freshman Gideon Moore closed out the 257-man field with a time of 25:49.8 for 231st overall.

UP NEXT
Wyoming will race again next month when they travel to the site of the NCAA Championships for the Pre-Nationals meet, hosted by Indiana State on Oct. 16, in Terre Haute, Ind.
