RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The Cowgirls moved up to fifth in the team standings through 36 holes at the Mountain West Women's Golf Championships at the Mission Hills Country Club.

Wyoming finished with a score of 293 (+5) during Wednesday's second round on the par-72, 6,286-yard Dinah Shore Tournament Course. The Cowgirls are +16 for the tournament and surged past Colorado State (+17) after shooting nine shots lower than the rival Rams.

Kiley Reisner, coming off her second victory of the season at last week's Bobcat Desert Classic, finished 1-under (71) in the second round and is tied for fourth in the chase for the individual trophy.

"The team played with tremendous patience today," UW head coach Josey Stender said. "Especially down the stretch when the windy conditions made it difficult."

UW junior Elle Higgins (+5) and senior Meghan Vogt (+5), who are both battling through injuries, are tied for 21st. Vogt and sophomore Kira Reisner, who is tied for 27th at +7, shot 73 on Wednesday.

"I'm so grateful for the leadership Meg, Elle and Kira are showing with their mental toughness and confidence on this stage," Stender said. "Kiley continues to compete like a veteran and plays with tenacity. I'm excited for tomorrow's finish."

Kiley Reisner is one of only five players in the field under par trailing Boise State's Leia Chung (-7), Grand Canyon's Alexis Vakasiuola (-5) and Colorado State's Kara Kaneshiro (-3). UW's star freshman is tied with UNLV's Foong Zi Yu (-1), the NCAA's 109th ranked player, with 18 holes remaining.

MW newcomer Grand Canyon (+8) holds a slim lead over Nevada (+9) and reigning champion UNLV (+10) in the team race. San Jose State (+13) is in fourth, three shots ahead of UW, entering Thursday's final round. Fans can follow the live results here: MW Women's Golf Championships.
