PALM DESERT, Calif. – Wyoming Cowgirl golf opens the spring schedule with the Mountain Classic Matchplay this coming Monday through Wednesday here at The Classic Club.
 
UW, which is co-hosting the event with Boise State, will be paired with Montana State during the first round after concluding the 2025 Mountain Classic Matchplay with a 3-2 victory over the Bobcats.
 
Matches begin at 11 a.m. each day.
 
"We are looking forward to hosting and competing in one of our favorite events of the year," UW head coach Josey Stender said. "Matchplay is an exciting format that allows the golfer to take risks and challenge their skill set and decision making in different ways. The Classic Club also has a perfect layout for this competition as well."
 
Each golfer will have a head-to-head match against an opposing team's golfer each round. Lineups will be selected by head coaches before each match.

Matches will play out through 18 holes, if needed, with no time limit. No extra holes will be played and half points will be awarded if the matches end in a tie. If the team matches end in a tie, the tiebreaker will be determined by the largest margin of victory for all matches combined.
 
During the fall schedule, UW's Elle Higgins and Meghan Vogt each set the program record for lowest round with 67s, and Kiley Reisner was named the Mountain West freshman of the month for September.
 
Stender will finalize the Cowgirl lineup after Sunday's practice round.
 
"I'm very pleased with each of our Cowgirl's investment this offseason in their fitness, equipment, and tournament experience," Stender said. "I am looking forward to seeing the work put to test now."
 
The other Monday parings are Boise State vs. Utah Valley, Gonzaga vs. Nevada and Washington State vs. Weber State.
 
"The field this year has more competitive depth," Stender said. "I am looking to rely on the veteran experience and the competitive edge our newcomers have shown this past fall."
