Cowgirls will play in the semifinals on Wednesday in Phoenix
LARAMIE, Wyoming (11/7/26) – It was a win-and-in scenario for the University of Wyoming soccer team on Saturday at the Madrid Sports Complex. And the Cowgirls seized the moment.
The Pokes blanked Hawai'i, 2-0, to punch their ticket to the Mountain West Conference Tournament. That action gets underway Wednesday with the semifinals at GCU Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.
"To close out, at home, in front of a good crowd, for our seniors, it's an unbelievable feeling," head coach Josh Purdum said. "Obviously, we needed our best performance today. Our seniors stepped up in a big way. But shout out our freshmen, as well, they showed up and got it done for us today. Our depth showed today."
Wyoming can finish anywhere from the No. 2 to No. 4 seed. That seeding will be based on what happens in the Air Force at New Mexico match on Saturday night.
For the time being, the Cowgirls will celebrate a win on Saturday. It was one that featured a lot of the same elements that have been present all year. Alyssa Glover showcased her class, and Wyoming's 13th different goal scorer found the back of the net.
Glover staked the Pokes to 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute. Alexa Berkley received a throw from goalkeeper Haley Bartel and found Glover who did the rest.
It was Glover's 10th score of the season, her sixth in conference, giving her the league lead over Air Force's Annika Jost. Glover's 17 points are two clear of Jost who, again, plays this evening in Albuquerque.
Izzy Schroder put the finishing touches on the victory. She netted her first-career score in the 68th minute.
Bartel made it all stand up with her ninth shutout of the season. That matches the record she set two seasons ago. It's also her 27th career clean sheet, eight clear of second place.
Speaking of records, Glover is now at 75 career points, six clear of second place. Her 29 career goals are four clear of second place.
