ERIE, Colorado (9/30/25) – The University of Wyoming men's golf team wrapped up play at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite on Tuesday. The Cowboys finished seventh at 846 (-18) in a tournament played at Colorado National Golf Club.
"This was a great event for us," head coach
Joe Jensen said. "I'm proud of the guys. We took a little half step forward. We have a long, long, long way to go. But we beat a bunch of good teams. We beat a bunch of teams in our conference. And the biggest thing is that we've shown improvement from where we started the season."
Brody Leid paced the Pokes with a strong final round 68 (-4). He holed six birdies to vault up into a tie for ninth at 207 (-9). This represents Leid's best-career finish and his fourth career top 25.
"He found something at Air Force, and sometimes when you find something you can stay in a box of confidence," Jensen said. "He feels good about where things are at in his game. He's just a steady, steady player."
Kristof Panke and
Ryker Lind both tied for 27th at 211 (-5). Panke carded a Tuesday round of 71 (-1), and Lind a 72 (E). It's the highest finish of Lind's young career.
Conner Scheich saved his best for last, as he logged a 69 (-3) on the final day to move up into a tie for 63rd at 217 (+1). His Tuesday was filled with five birdies and an eagle.
Kellen Ball's score is dropped from Wyoming's team score. He tied for 94th at 230 (+14) following a final round 74 (+2).
Brody Knowlton and
Austin Barry participated as individuals. Knowlton tied for 63rd at 217 (+1) after a third round 72 (E). Barry placed 93rd at 229 (+13) following a final day 77 (+5).
Arkansas State took home the team title at 822 (-42). Colorado and Long Beach State rounded out the top three at 823 (-41) and 824 (-40), respectively. Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt stood atop the individual leaderboard at 194 (-22).
Wyoming takes a couple weeks off before its next competition. The Cowboys travel to the Oregon State Beaver Invite from Oct. 14-15.
