ERIE, Colorado (9/29/25) – The University of Wyoming men's golf team performed well Monday during Day 1 of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite. The Pokes are currently tied for seventh as a team at 566 (-10) in a tournament being played at the Colorado National Golf Club.
"We are just slowly getting comfortable and getting better," head coach
Joe Jensen said. "The kids are getting more comfortable with their skillset, and we are starting to build some confidence. We had a good weekend of training. It's our first under-par round as a team, and that's a milestone for this team."
Ryker Lind and
Brody Leid paced the Cowboys. Both are tied for 14th at 139 (-5), however, they took very different routes to their strong scores.
Lind accomplished his score with a very stout second round. He fired a 66 (-6) that featured seven birdies and an ace. It ties for the 13th-best score in school history, which occurred following an opening round 73 (+1) that had four birdies.
Leid showcased consistency with a first round 70 (-2) and a second round 69 (-3). He scattered six birdies across 36 holes and only recorded one bogey.
Kristof Panke isn't far behind at 140 (-4), which is good enough for a tie for 20th. He got out of the gates fast with an opening 69 (-3) and closed with a 71 (-1). He boasted an impressive 10 birdies on Monday.
