GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Cowgirl golf will wrap up the 2024-25 regular season at the
Bobcat Desert Classic Monday through Wednesday on the par-72, 6,154-yard Golf Course of Estrella.
Wyoming will start senior
Kyla Wilde and junior
Sophie Spiva, who are both coming off top 25 finishes at the
Cowgirl Classic, as well as senior
Meghan Vogt, junior
Grace Dunkleberger and freshman
Kira Reisner.
The Cowgirls finished eighth in the competitive 15-team tournament they hosted last week at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes golf course in Maricopa, Ariz.
"I am pleased with our consistency trending the last two events," UW head coach
Josey Stender said. "We were two strokes shy of our best finish in years at the Cowgirl Classic, so I know they are hungry for a great performance."
Cowgirl freshmen
Lucia Morelli and
Emerson Purcell will play as individuals in the 10-team event hosted by Montana State.
The other teams in the field are Weber State, Portland State, North Idaho, Idaho State, Idaho, Eastern Washington, Utah Tech and Montana. There will be 54 holes of stroke play with 18 holes each day.
UW is looking to gain some momentum ahead of the Mountain West Championship April 15-17 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
"It was important for us to have this event on our schedule not only to keep our competitive rhythm before conference, but the course sets up well for us," Stender said.
