GOLDEN, Colo. (April 12, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program wrapped up day two of the Kit Mayer Classic with six first-place finishes, 28 personal bests and seven Top-10 program times, Saturday. Pokes posted 17 podium finishes over the weekend meet.
HEPTATHLON
Two Cowgirls complete competition in the heptathlon on Saturday. Freshman
Avery Navest finished in second place with 4,803 points, a Top-45 performance in the country this season and the No. 3 point total in program history. On day two, she finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16' 7 3/4" (5.07 meters), fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 85' 2" (25.96 meters) and third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:35.98.
Freshman
Lily Nichols finished her heptathlon in sixth with 4,072 points. In today's action, she posted a personal-best long jump of 17' 7 1/2" (5.37 meters) for fourth, finished 11th in the javelin with a throw of 61' 6" (18.76 meters) and was first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.15.
FIELD EVENTS
To start day two, junior jumper
Remar Pitter won the men's long jump with an outdoor personal best jump of 25' 2 1/2" (7.68 meters). Pitter now sits at No. 4 in the outdoor Top-10 list and No. 16 in the country this season. Freshman
Christian Edwards finished in 16th with a mark of 17' 0 3/4" (5.20 meters).
Freshman
Melody ZumBrunnen jumped to second in the long jump, posting a personal best of 17' 11" (5.46 meters).
In the women's high jump, freshman
Koi Adderley finished tied for fourth with her clearance of 5' 5" (1.65 meters). She cleared each height on her first attempt before failing to reach 1.70 meters.
Junior
Gage Griffith threw to 10th in the discus with a mark of 146' 4" (44.61 meters), reaching this distance on his third throw.
Sophomore
Kais Kimuli took second in the shot put with her throw of 46' 4 1/4" (14.13 meters), a outdoor personal best.
In the men's shot put, senior
Cam Burkett won with a throw of 58' 6 1/2" (17.84 meters). Freshman
Charles LaFore followed up his first-place finish in the hammer yesterday with a fifth-place finish today; he threw a distance of 55' 2 3/4" (16.83 meters). Junior
Gage Griffith finished right behind Lafore in sixth with his throw of 54' 8 1/4" (16.67 meters).
TRACK EVENTS
The track opened with the 4x100-meter relays. For the women, the squad of freshman

Gabby Drube finished in first with a time of 45.60. This is now the No. 6 time in program history.
For the men, the team of Edwards, freshman

Carter McComb also took first with a program No. 10 time of 40.84.
Seven Cowgirls ran in the 1,500 meters, with three finishing in the Top-10. Freshmen
Hanan Aldelemy ran to fifth with a time of 4:30.61,
Muriel Jones took eighth with a personal-best time of 4:37.22 and
Reagan Gillman finished in 10th, crossing the line at 4:40.13, a personal best. Other finishers were senior
Nina Zraik at 4:44.10 (15th), senior
Riley Frankel at 4:53.65 (24th), junior
Brooke Holzworth crossing the line at 4:55.67 (27th) and freshman
Kayla Coppola running to a 5:01.83 finish (31st). All marks are converted for altitude.
In the men's 1,500 meters, senior
Trevor Stephen and junior
Mac Zastrow finished 1-2 with times of 3:49.08 and 3:49.22, respectively. Freshman
Nolan Hoffman came in 42nd, crossing the line at 4:12.94, after altitude conversions.
All three Cowgirls posted personal bests in the 400 meters. Sophomore
Isabelle Harvey finished in third with a time of 57.08. In fifth came freshman
Madeline Thorne in 57.34. Senior Zoe Lemley ran to a 10th-place finish at 1:02.40.
In the men's 400 meters, junior
Darius Wiggins ran to sixth with a time of 48.35 while Brown came in seventh with a personal-best time of 48.72.
Freshmen
Carly Norman and
Rylie Alberts both finished with personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles. Norman came in fifth with a time of 14.92 while Alberts finished in ninth, crossing the line at 15.28.
In the men's 110-meter hurdles, senior
Jaheim Ferguson ran to third with a time of 14.66.
The 100 meters saw plenty of personal bests. For the women, freshman
Taliah Morris ran in her first collegiate 100-meter dash and took second. Her time of 11.80 is now tied for No. 6 in program history. Senior
Joan Easter finished in fifth with a personal-best time of 12.07. Right behind her, Witkiewicz finished with a personal-best time of 12.08 for sixth. ZumBrunnen ran to a 11th-place finish at 12.52, a personal best, while junior
Faith Jehu came in 13th with a personal-best finish of 12.62. Sophomore
Charlotte Ward rounded out the Cowgirls with a personal-best time of 13.03 for 18th.
On the men's side, McComb finished in fourth with a personal-best time of 10.48, the new No. 5 time program history. Norton also posted a personal best, running to a 16th-place finish of 10.92. Freshman
Bradley Ekstrom ran his first collegiate 100 meters and finished in 20th with a time of 11.13.
In the women's 800 meters, senior
Paige Sefried ran to a eighth-place finish, crossing the line at 2:15.99 after conversions for altitude.
Junior distance runner
Tristan Knueppel was the top Cowboy finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.25, good for 15th place. Junior
Oscar Goll took 23rd with a time of 1:58.51 while sophomore
Meyer Smith ran to a 38th-place finish, crossing the line at 2:03.99, after conversions.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Drube finished first for Wyoming in second place with a time of 59.73. Sophomore
Gabbreiella Mendoza-Molina ran a personal-best time of 1:01.02 for fourth while freshman
Lily McDowell took ninth with a time of 1:02.26 and senior
Jenae Ramirez crossed the line 13th at 1:05.08.
Senior
Jaheim Ferguson ran a program No. 2 time in the 400-meter hurdles. His personal-best time of 50.64 won him the event and is the No. 13 time in the country this year.
All runners in the men's and women's 200 meters posted personal bests or ran in their first collegiate race. For the women, Thorne ran a time of 24.66 for fifth, Chafee came in sixth with a time of 24.75, freshman
Eva Dellorco took eighth with a finish of 25.14, Harvey finished in 10th with a time of 25.38, Ward crossed the line 18th at 26.67 and Norman finished with a time of 26.75 for 20th overall.
On the men's side, Ekstrom finished in 12th place with a time of 21.71, Norton came in 15th at 21.86, sophomore
Cody Hape ran to 16th with a time of 21.88 while Wiggins finished 17th, crossing the line at 22.03.
In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior
Rozlyn Slichko took second with her time of 11:10.61, after altitude conversions. For the men, freshman
Austin Akers also finished in second, crossing the line at 9:26.54, with conversions.
UP NEXT
Wyoming looks ahead to the busiest week of the outdoor season as it will compete in three meets on the West Coast. The week will begin on Wednesday with the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and run until Friday. The other two meets, Pacific Coast Invitational and Long Beach Invitational will be held Thursday and Friday to Saturday, respectively.
