ST. GEORGE, Utah – Wyoming Cowgirls golf shot an opening round 304 (+16) at the Thunderbird Invitational on Friday at Sunbrook Golf Club.
UW, which sits eighth in the team standings after 18 holes, was led by sophomore
Kira Reisner, who shot a 74 (+2) and is tied for ninth on the individual leaderboard entering Saturday's round.
Senior
Kyla Wilde shot 75 and junior
Sophie Spiva carded a 76 to rank among the top 25 individual finishers.
Former UW standout
Jadan Gonzalez shared the individual trophy in 2024 at the 12-team event hosted by Southern Utah.
UC Riverside leads the 54-hole tournament after shooting an opening round 293 (+5). Stetson's Julieta Oviedo (-1) was the only player to shoot under par after firing a 71.
UW will next compete at the Santa Clara Silicon Valley Showcase March 24-25 in Millbrae, Calif., before hosting the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic April 2-3 in Maricopa, Ariz.
