FRESNO, Calif. (March 23, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team picked up their first Mountain West victory of the season as they came out on top in a marathon match against Fresno State. The Cowgirls bested the Bulldogs on the road, 4-3. Wyoming won a pair of three-set singles contests to help it best Fresno.

The Cowgirls (4-12, 1-3 MW) opened the match by once again claiming the Doubles Point. Wyoming has won doubles in 3-of-4 conference matches this season. UW got a win at No. 2 from Eugenia Ceinos and Elena Trencheva, 6-1. At No. 1, the Cowgirl tandem of Violetta Borodina and Dilnaz Mashabayeva outlasted the Fresno State doubles team, winning the tiebreaker 7-5 to take the match, 7-6. Borodina and Mashabayeva remain perfect in dual action as doubles partners this season.

In singles, UW was able to get wins at Nos. 2, 4 and 5 to claim the overall victory. The Cowgirls got third-set victories from Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia at No. 2 and Trencheva at No. 4. Kochelaevskaia won 7-6 (12-10), 4-6 and 6-2 while Trencheva was victorious, 4-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (7-5). Mashabayeva got the other win, coming out with a straight-sets 6-4 and 6-4 win at the fifth singles position.

Wyoming looks to keep its momentum going next week with a pair of home matches. The Cowgirls host San Diego State Friday at 3 p.m., and UNLV at 11 Sunday morning.
