LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 27, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls close the holiday weekend with a tough home contest Saturday afternoon inside the Arena-Auditorium as South Dakota comes to town for a 1 p.m., game.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming (2-4) is coming off a 75-38 Education Day win Tuesday over Chadron State. The Cowgirls assisted on 21-of-31 made field goals in the win. It is the second time this season that UW has recorded 20-plus assists in a game. The Cowgirls have assisted on over 63-percent of their made field goals this season and are fifth in the league averaging 13.8 assists per game.
Malene Pedersen led all scorers with 26 points against the Eagles. It was the 10th 20-point game of Pedersen's career and her 26th consecutive game scoring 10-plus, dating back to last season. Pedersen made a career-best 11 shots on the day and hit 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Pedersen, who has led Wyoming in scoring in all six games, is up to 16.8 points per game, ranking second in the league in scoring. Pedersen's 56-percent shooting is tops in the Mountain West while her 59-percent 3-point shooting is second-best in the conference.
Henna Sandvik scored a career-high 12 points against Chadron State and added three assists. Payton Muma added nine and also had three assists. Muma leads Wyoming with three assists per contest this season and is fifth in the league with a 1.29 assist-to-turnover ratio. Pedersen and Lana Beslic lead the Cowgirls with 4.7 rebounds per game. Muma tops the Brown & Gold with 11 steals.
SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA
South Dakota will provide a massive challenge for the Cowgirls as the 'yotes come into Saturday's contest scoring over 82 points per game and allowing their opponents to score under 51 a contest. USD is shooting 46-percent from the field, 31-percent from 3-point range and over 80-percent at the free-throw line. South Dakota opponents are shooting under 30-percent overall and just 23-percent from beyond-the-arc. The Coyotes enjoy a plus-14.6 rebounding margin so far in 2025-26 and average nearly 17 assists per game while forcing their opponents into 19 turnovers a contest. South Dakota is 2-0 in road contests this season.
Angelina Robles leads USD in scoring averaging 14.7 points per game and averages a team-best 2.6 assists per set on the season. Elise Turrubiates also averages in double figures, scoring 10.4 points per game while Patience Williams averages nearly a double-double, coming into Saturday leading the Coyotes with 9.7 rebounds per game, while scoring 9.3 a contest. Williams also leads the team with two steals per game. Katie Reyerson, who has played in just one game this season for South Dakota, scored 16 in that game.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST SOUTH DAKOTA
Wyoming is 4-3 all time against the Coyotes and has won the last three in the series, including a 79-45 victory last season in Vermillion. The Cowgirls are 3-0 in the series with USD at home and last played South Dakota in Laramie in the 2024 WNIT, an 84-52 UW win.
