LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 19, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls close their three-game road swing with a trip to North Dakota for an 11 a.m., Mountain Time contest against the Fighting Hawks Friday.
Friday's game will be broadcast on the Summit League Network and can be viewed via subscription. It will also be broadcast live on the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming is coming off a loss last time out, losing at Santa Clara last Friday, 76-45. Malene Pedersen led all scorers with a season-high 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Pedersen has scored in double figures in all four games this season and has scored 10-plus points in 24 consecutive contests, dating back to last season. Payton Muma tied a career-best with five assists in the loss, marking the second time this season she has recorded five assists. Pedersen leads the league with a 61.5-percent shooting mark from 3-point range and is sixth while shooting 50-percent overall from the floor. Muma, meanwhile, ranks fourth in the league averaging 3.5 assists per game.
Logann Alvar, Lana Beslic and Madi Symons have been strong in their new roles this season. This season, Alvar is averaging eight points and 3.5 rebounds per game on 52-percent shooting from the floor after averaging one point and 1.6 rebounds a contest in 2024-25. Beslic, who appeared in just seven games last season, is averaging three points, 4.8 rebounds and nearly two assists per game. Symons, meanwhile, is averaging seven points, 4.5 rebounds and is shooting over 52-percent from the floor. In 2024-25, Symons averaged 0.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game on under 30-percent shooting.
On the season, the Cowgirls are fifth in the Mountain West averaging 13.8 assists per game. UW is assisting on over 67-percent of its made field goals this season. Wyoming ranks in the top half of the league in scoring defense (58.8), field goal percentage (41.1-percent), defensive field goal percentage (40.8-percent) and assist-to-turnover ratio (0.86). The Cowgirls also lead the league and are eighth in the country for fewest fouls committed a game, fouling opponents just 12.3 times a contest.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
North Dakota enters Friday in search of its first win on the season and is 0-2 at home on the young season. The Fighting Hawks are averaging 52 points per game and allowing opponents to score 73.4 a contest. UND is shooting 30-percent from the floor and 23.2-percent from 3-point range. North Dakota has been tough on the boards all season, recording nearly 42 rebounds a contest. The Fighting Hawks commit nearly 23 turnovers per game and average 9.4 assists a contest. Opponents are shooting 38.5-percent overall from the floor in 2025-26 and are hitting 32-percent of shots from beyond-the-arc.
The Fighting Hawks have had a balanced offensive attack so far, with four players averaging at least nine points per game. Mackenzie Hughes and Ava Miller lead the way averaging 9.6 points per contest while Miller is averaging a team-high 10.4 rebounds per contest. Walker Demers and Mikayla Aumer are averaging 9.2 and 9.0 points per game, respectively. Demers is averaging 9.2 rebounds per contest. Hughes leads the Fighting Hawks with 13 assists and along with Aumer, has made 16 free throws this season. Miller is shooting a blistering 11-of-19 from 3-point range this season.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST NORTH DAKOTA
This is the fourth consecutive season the two programs will meet. Wyoming is 4-1 all time against North Dakota and has won each of the last two contests, both coming in Laramie. The Fighting Hawks won the last meeting in Grand Forks, 67-55 in the 2022-23 season opener. The Cowgirls' win last season against UND was the 800th in program history.
