LIHU'E, Hawaii – All five players in the lineup shot lower scores in the second round and Wyoming improved its team score by 10 strokes at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Tuesday at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.
UW was led by
Kiley Reisner's 1-under 71. The true freshman moved up from 71
st to 28
th on the individual leaderboard.
The Cowgirls, who shot 297 (+9) after opening the tournament with a collective 307, are in 17
th place at +28 entering the final round on Wednesday, three shots behind Boise State and five shots behind host Hawaii.
"Much improved and more competitive with the field today by the Cowgirls," UW head coach
Josey Stender said. "The course played much tougher in the wind, but we didn't let it fluster us and stuck to the process. It was great to see their effort to finish with four birdies in the last few holes."
The 19-team field is led by Santa Clara (-5). Baylor's Yurang Li and Silje Ohma and San Diego State's Ema Narita are tied for the individual lead at -5.
