FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Sept. 28, 2024) – It was a solid day down at the Jon Messick Invitational Saturday for the Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team. Three of the four Cowgirl doubles teams earned a win on the day while three student-athletes picked up singles wins.
The day began with doubles with the tandem of Serina Abriola and Eugenia Ceinos defeating the team from Colorado State, 6-4. The duo would drop their second match, 6-3 to Iowa State. Elena Trencheva and Ruby Young also went 1-1 on the day. The team defeated CSU's Dobreva and Erechtchenko in a thriller, 7-6 (8-6) before falling to a tandem from Oregon. Rounding out doubles action was Adel Ismagulova and Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia winning 6-3 over Air Force.
In singles, Kochelaevskaia, Trencheva and Young all picked up wins. Kochelaevskaia and Trencheva earned straight-set wins. Kochelaevskaia won 6-1 and 6-4 over Natalie Paterova of Utah State. Trencheva, meanwhile, came out on top 6-0 and 6-1 over Valeska Ramirez of Iowa State, 6-0 and 6-1. Young won her third set super set over Weber State's Sydney Schnell, 10-4. Young split the first two sets against Schnell, 6-2, 4-6.
Things finish up at the invite Sunday at Colorado State.
