LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 2, 2024) – Senior cornerback Tyrecus Davis was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. He helped led the Cowboys past Washington State in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Davis, a native of Greenvile, Texas finished his final game for the Cowboys tying a career-high with seven total tackles. He had seven tackles in his first game with UW against Texas Tech and the game in his final contest at Washington State. He also added his second career interception that sealed the contest. Davis also added a tackle for loss and recorded a key fourth-down stop to lift Wyoming to the win.
Davis and the Cowboy defensive held Washington State to 150 yards below their average and held the Cougars to only 14 points, as WSU averaged 50 points per game at home this season. The Cowboys did not allow a score in the second half.
