RENO, Nev. (November 15, 2024) – The University of Wyoming men's cross country program ran to a sixth-place team finish and the women took 12th at the NCAA Mountain Regional on Friday at the Washoe Golf Course. Teams will wait for Saturday's Selection Show to see if they make the NCAA Championships.
The gun sounded for the women's 6k race at noon on a snowy course and senior
Kylie Simshauser led the way for the Cowgirls at the 0.9k and 2.2k checkpoints at third and fifth, respectively. As the race progressed, senior
Leah Christians took over for Wyoming and finished the race first for the Cowgirls in 52nd with a time of 21:04.0. Coming next for the team was senior
Abigail Whitman and Simshauser finishing back-to-back in 58th and 59th with times of 21:12.3 and 21.12.4, respectively. Junior
Madelyn Blazo finished in 70th for the Cowgirls with a time of 21:26.7 and junior
Hailey Uhre came in 90th, crossing the line at 21:53.2 to cap off the scoring five. Right after Uhre was junior
Eowyn Dalbec in 91st with her time of 21:56.8. Graduate
Marina Trave Ferrer closed out the Cowgirl finishers with her time of 22:56.1 for 117th overall.
The Cowgirls finished 12th in the team standings with 329 points. With this, they also finished 12th in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mountain Region Ranking. The full women's results can be found

The Cowboys were led by junior
Jacob White in the 10k, finishing in 19th with a time of 29:43.2 for the 11th-best time in program history. He was followed by senior
Ryker Holtzen in 32nd at a time of 29:59.1 for the No. 15 time in program history. Next for the Cowboys was senior
Mason Norman coming in 37th and crossing the line at 30:02.3. Senior
Gus McIntyre showed out and made his way back into the scoring five with his time of 30:17.1 for a 43rd-place finish and rounding out the five was senior
Dylan van der Hock crossing the line 54th with a time of 30:31.1, a personal best in the 10k. Two more Cowboys finished the race with senior
Trevor Stephen running to 68th at 31:01.7 and senior
Asefa Wetzel finishing 73rd with a time of 31:07.2.
With the conclusion of the Mountain Regional, the Cowboys were ranked sixth in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Poll heading into Selection Saturday. The full men's results can be found
