Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 17, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirls dismantled UNLV on the road Thursday night. Sweeping the Lady Rebels 25-16, 25-20 and 25-16. The win snaps a six-match losing streak to UNLV in the series and is the first win in Las Vegas in nearly a decade (October 30, 2014).

Wyoming (11-6, 3-4 MW) hit a .341 in the contest, its best in a Mountain West match this season while holding the Lady Rebels (10-8, 3-4) to just a .146 team hitting percentage. The Cowgirls trailed 9-8 in the first set of the night, but a 6-1 run pushed them in front 14-10. From that point on, UW didn't trail the rest of the set and didn't trail again the rest of the match.

The Cowgirls, who committed just eight attack errors on the night, didn't record their first error until partway through the second set. It was a balanced attack from Wyoming in the contest as Paige Lauterwasser and Sonte Stewart each had nine kills to lead the way. Stewart hit .350 on the night. Emma Winter added six kills while Sarah Holcomb and Kayla Mazzocca had five each.

The duo in the middle of Holcomb and Mazzocca hit .625 and .417, respectively in the victory and led the Cowgirls with four and three blocks, respectively. Wyoming had a 7-4 advantage in total blocks against UNLV and had nine service aces while the Lady Rebels had just two. Skylar Erickson led the way with four aces in the match while Lauterwasser had a trio at the service line.

Kasia Partyka had a strong all-around night. Partyka tallied 27 assists while also adding four kills and six digs. Sierra Grizzle led the way with 11 digs in the contest while Erickson chipped in with eight.

UW looks to continue its hot play and will finish off the week with a road matchup at San Diego State Saturday. First serve is set for 1 p.m., Mountain Time.
