COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sadie McMullen and Kareem Mersal were named the Mountain West Conference Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday January 23rd for their respective performances at the Ralph Linderman Classic over the weekend.
Kareem Mersal went 26-3.75 to best the field in the Long Jump at the Ralph Linderman Classic at the Air Force Academy on Friday afternoon. Mersal broke the Mountain West Conference and Wyoming Record in the event all while jumping the second best mark in the NCAA so far this season.
Mersal broke the school record set at the Power Meet in December by teammate Remar Pitter in December. Pitter went 24-11.75 today to give the Pokes a one-two finish in the Long Jump.
McMullen was named the Mountain West Female Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. McMullen has competed twice this indoor season and twice she has set a personal best in the Long Jump. McMullen went 20-3.50 in the Long Jump at the Academy to win the event. The Cowgirl from Morrison, Colo., ranks first in the Mountain West this season in Long Jump and ranks 23rd in the country this year.
The Pokes will head to Bozeman, Mont., for a Tri Meet against host school Montana State and the University of Montana on Friday January 26th.
