COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Kareem Mersal went 26-3.75 to best the field in the Long Jump at the Ralph Linderman Classic at the Air Force Academy on Friday afternoon. Mersal broke the Mountain West Conference and Wyoming Record in the event all while jumping the second best mark in the NCAA so far this season.
Mersal broke the school record set at the Power Meet in December by teammate Remar Pitter in December. Pitter went 24-11.75 today to give the Pokes a one-two finish in the Long Jump. On the women's side Sadie McMullen went a personal best in the event and finished first in the field with a mark of 20-3.5.
Mersal and Pitter sit at one-two in the record books while McMullen maintained her spot at No. Four.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls swept the Weight Throw at the Academy as well with Daniel Reynolds and Mary Carbee. Reynolds threw 68-11.25 while Carbee went 62-1. Reynolds maintains his top spot in the conference while Carbee moves up a spot to No. Three this season in the event.
