Fort Collins, Colo. (Sept. 25, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl golf squad returned to action on Monday completing the first two rounds of play at the CSU Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State at the Ptarmigan Country Club. Jadan Gonzalez paced the Cowgirls through the opening round sitting in 16^thafter two rounds of play. 
 
"Overall it was a similar feel to our last event where in our first round the putts didn't drop. While they fought hard and made quite few birdies, the course set up almost requires a you to birdie every hole or you lose shots to the field." Head Women's Golf Coach Josey Stender said, "Jadan played phenomenal this afternoon and it was great to see her back in the groove. It is also encouraging to have many solid scores deep into our lineup." 
 
Gonzalez closed her day strong putting together a career round shooting a 68 (-4) in the second round to cap off of the day with a score of 142 (-2). Kyla Wilde also put together a good opening day booking a two-round score of 147 (+3) placing her in a tie for 29^th with one round left to play.  Tomine Bjerkelo finished her day in 40^th with a score of 150 (+6) while Meghan Vogt Finished just behind her as she finished the day tied for 41^stwith a score of 151 (+7). Rounding out the lineup, Morgan Ryan finished the day tied for 43^rd with a score of 152 (+8).
 
Playing as individuals, the duo of Samantha Spielman and Sophie Spiva finished the day in 39^th and tied for 43^rd respectively. 
 
As a team, the Cowgirls currently sit in ninth out of 11 teams with a score of 585 (+13) coming in just four strokes behind eighth placer Southern Miss. Colorado State will enter the final round of play with a controlling lead in the team race after posting a two-round score of 535 (-41) leading the rest of the field by nearly 20 strokes. 
 
The Cowgirls will wrap up play tomorrow with the final round set to tee off at 9 a.m. MT.
