GREENWOOD, Ind. (June 1, 2023) - University of Wyoming tennis student-athlete Maria Oreshkina was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Tennis Team announced Thursday by the organization. Oreshkina was a third team selection.

Oreshkina becomes the second tennis student-athlete (Veronica Popovici, 2014) in program history to be named Academic All-America. Oreshkina, who just graduated with her degree in Geospatial Information Science earlier this month, was named to the Academic All-District Team three weeks ago. Oreshkina was joined on the all-district team by her teammate, Ana Fernandez.

Earlier this season, Oreshkina became just the third Cowgirl in program history to be named All-Mountain West four times in her career. Oreshkina helped lead UW to its first regular season Mountain West title in program history and its first-ever national postseason tournament appearance (NIT), where the Cowgirls went 2-1. Oreshkina becomes the 13th Cowgirl in Wyoming Athletics history to be named Academic All-America. A Cowboy or Cowgirl has been named to the CSC team nine times dating back to 2016.
