Laramie, Wyo. (April 28, 2023) – A trio of Cowboy wrestlers will be in action this weekend as they take a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete in the U20 Freestyle National Championships held April 29-30. Jore Volk (57kg), Logan Ours (70kg) and Kevin Zimmer (125 kg) are all set to compete as they begin the quest to make the U20 Freestyle World Championship Team. 
 
Volk returns to freestyle competition after winning the U20 57kg Freestyle World Title a year ago earning the right to represent team USA after winning the U20 World team trails. With his first collegiate season in the books, Volk will now be looking to make his second world team.
 
Zimmer and Ours will also be bringing an added level of experience to the National Championships following their first seasons in the Brown and Gold where each of them competed in multiple open tournaments. 
 
The U20 National Championships serves as the first step in qualifying for the U20 world team with the winner of the National Championships earning a spot in the World Team trials best of 3 finals with the winner of that series earning the world team member spot. In addition, the winner of the U20 National Championships earns a spot on the U20 Pan American team and will get to compete in the U20 Pan American Championships hosted in Santiago, Chile July 6-9.
 
Along with a chance to make the Pan American team, the Competing Cowboys will have a chance to qualify for the U20 world team trails with the top eight finishers at each weight earning a chance to compete at the World Team Trials which is set to place in Geneva, Ohio June 2-4.
