LARAMIE, Wyo. (March 16, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team returns home for the first time since February 18 as they welcome in Creighton for a noon matchup Saturday in Laramie. Wyoming spent the previous four matches away from home. Following Saturday's match, the Cowgirls will travel to face Northern Arizona at 10 a.m., Monday in Flagstaff.

The Cowgirls (4-8) are coming off a 4-2 loss at Colorado Sunday, in which Wyoming battled hard but ultimately came up short. UW won the doubles point behind the strength of wins by the No. 1 team of Ana Fernandez and Sophie Zehender and the No. 2 doubles team of Violetta Borodina and Maria Oreshkina. Fernandez and Zehender have now won two consecutive matches and have a team-best six dual wins together. Meanwhile, the tandem of Borodina and Oreshkina have won four-straight.

Zehender picked up the Cowgirls' lone singles win against the Buffaloes, winning at the No. 1 spot, 6-4 and 6-1. Zehender now has four wins in singles play this spring while Borodina and Nikol Dobrilova lead the Cowgirls with six wins each in dual action.

Wyoming is looking for its third win this season at home and fifth consecutive win in Laramie, dating back to last season. Under Head Coach Dean Clower, the Cowgirls are 53-9 at home in his 11-plus seasons.

Creighton enters Saturday's match with a 12-3 mark overall this season and have played a pair of common opponents as the Cowgirls. The Bluejays defeated Omaha, 4-3 and Kansas City, 5-2. The Cowgirls lost in January to Omaha and defeated Kansas City in late February. NAU is 8-5 this spring and has posted a 3-1 mark at home.
