ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. & SEATTLE, Wash. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field Teams wrapped up the weekend slate in New Mexico and Washington on Saturday. Katelyn Mitchem headlines the Pokes as the Cowgirl senior broke her own school record in the mile.
HUSKY CLASSIC
Katelyn Mitchem kicked things off for the Cowgirls by running a PR in the Mile and breaking her own school record in the process. Mitchem ran a 4:38.11 at the Husky Classic turning in a sixth place performance.
Seth Bruxvoort and Ryker Holtzen were on the men's side in the event, both turning in personal bests on Saturday. Bruxvoort ran a 4:09.36 while Holtzen turned in a 4:09.97 to finish in 63rd and 67th place.
DON KIRBY INVITE
Cameron Burkett showcased his talent taking seventh place in the Shot Put with a throw of 57-4.25. The freshman continues to impress in his debut season. Burkett owns the No. 8 throw all time at UW and the freshman record set at the Power Meet back in December.
Kayla Stibley went 11-10 in the Pole Vault, just off of her personal best and No. 2 vault all time at UW of 11-11.75. Aumni Ashby was the top finisher in the women's Triple Jump for the Pokes, taking 27th place with her mark of 39-4. Kaliff Guevara was the top finisher for the Cowboys on the men's side. Guevara went 45-4.25 for a 26th place finish in New Mexico.
Catch the Cowboys and Cowgirls in action next weekend at the Air Force Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. Wyoming will compete in the final regular season meet of the 2023 Indoor season before heading back to Albuquerque for the 2023 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships the following weekend.
