LUBBOCK, Texas. — The University of Wyoming Cross Country Teams took on the NCAA Mountain Region on Friday morning at the LCU Country Course in a race hosted by Texas Tech with all the Mountain Region teams competing for the chance to compete in next week's 2023 NCAA Cross Country National Championships.
NCAA Cross Country Championships
The top two finishing teams in each regional secure automatic bids to the championship. The first four regional finishers not from an automatic qualifying or at-large team also secure an auto-bid to the championships. While the at-large teams won't be decided until the selection show at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Mountain Region Qualifiers
No. 1 nationally ranked Northern Arizona and No. 3 BYU finished one-two in the men's and women's race to earn their spots in Charlottesville, Va., next week.
The Cowgirls were on the course first to race this morning in the 6K. Abigail Whitman led the Cowgirls with a 28th place finish running a 20:20.8. The Wyoming women took ninth among the teams to compete.

The Cowboys led by the trio of Jacob White, Mason Norman and Ryker Holtzen for an eighth-place finish in Texas. The trio separated by just 1.1 seconds finished in 36th, 38th and 39th.
