COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field teams competed at the University of Colorado Springs at the 2023 Colorado Running UCCS Invite on Saturday. After weather postponed the Powder River Dual Meet to be hosted in Gillette, Wyo., the Pokes found themselves in Colorado instead.

SPRINTS
Haley Esser put together an impressive performance in the women's 400M finishing third with a time of 58.84 while Jenae Ramirez came in just behind her in fourth with a time of 59.72. The duo of Kiona Gibbs-Gonzalez and Zoe Lemley also competed in the event finishing in 13th and 14th respectively. On the men's side, Darius Wiggins finished seventh in the 400M clocking a time of 52.54
In the women's 60M hurdles, Gabby Drube was the lone Cowgirl to compete and represented well finishing fourth with a time of 8.99. On the men's side, Caige McComb finished on the podium taking third with a time of 8.30.
Kitana Burgard booked the top time in the 60M prelims crossing the line in 7.45 while Sadie McMullen finished in eighth with a time of 7.95. both cowgirls qualified for the 60M finals but did not race. For the Cowboys, Wyatt Moore finished third in the prelims with a time of 6.85 but did not compete in the finals.
Burgard continued her impressive day by winning the women's 200M clocking a time of 24.90 finishing as the only athlete to go under 25 second. Tay'Maro Powell-Peters finished fourth in the event with a time of 26.62 while Annie Vincent took 13th with a time of 27.61.
THROWS
Guy Hamasaki was the lone Poke to compete in the men's weight throw earning a fifth-place finish after recording a best throw of 52'8.75. On the women's side Mary Carbee led a trio of Cowgirls as she finished fifth with a toss of 57-6.25. Mateya Mobley took seventh with a toss of 51-9.25 while Christine Montler finished ninth with a toss of 51-4.50.
In the men's shot put, Cameron Burkett led the way with a toss of 56'1 to finish in second. Gage Griffith finished a few spots behind Burkett in sixth with a toss of 50'2.
The duo of Cosette Stellern and Jordan Christensen went four-five in the Shot Put to finish up the throwing for the Pokes. Stellern went 42-9.5 while Christensen went 41-4.25.
JUMPS
The duo of Kaliff Guevara and Jefferson Danso had a solid outing in the men's triple jump finishing second and third with leaps of 48-0 and 47-0.25 respectively.
In the women's pole vault, Kayla Stibley led the way for the Cowgirls clearing 11'9.75 to finish in fifth.
In the men's long jump, Hunter Brown was the top finisher for Wyoming going 23'7'.25 to take fourth while Sage Coventry finished in ninth with a leap of 22'3.50. On the women's side, the duo of Joan Easter and Sadie McMullen finished fifth and sixth respectively while Elayna Chafee finished in tenth.
Easter was back in action in the women's high jump earning a fifth-place finish after clearing 5-1.25.
In one of the final events of the day Chafee and Aumni Ashby went two-three in the Triple Jump with marks of 39-7.25 and 39-6.5 respectively.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will head back to Boulder, Colo., for the CU Invitational on Friday and Saturday of next week.
