LARAMIE, Wyo. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field Teams will head to Gillette, Wyo., to host the University of South Dakota in the Powder River Dual at the Campbell County Parks and Recreation Center.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls are coming off their first competition during the 2023 calendar year and this week's dual will mark the third time the Pokes have competed during the 2022-23 indoor season.
The meet will get started with a trio of field events. The Women's Triple Jump along with the Men's High Jump and Long Jump. Then the Cowgirls will get things going on the track with the mile at 12. The meet will run until approximately 12:45 with the Men's 4x400 relay to finish things up for the day-long event.
Head Track & Field Coach Bryan Berryhill had this to say about the outreach event, "We are excited to have another dual meet in Gillette this year. The Campbell County Rec Center and the city of Gillette have always been very welcoming, and we appreciate all they do to make this competition possible."
"This year we will be competing against a very good South Dakota team, so we will need to be 100% focused to have a chance of winning the meet. Dual meets are a little unique in our sport and require a different approach. It's all about scoring points for the team and winning events, that's a lot like the conference championships"

Following last week's Potts Invitational in Boulder, Colo., the Pokes look to build on the success. Mason Norman broke the 3000M school record while Katelyn Mitchem was just 0.11 seconds off of the women's record in the same event.
Freshman thrower Cameron Burkett continues to impress in his first season in the Brown & Gold. Burkett is coming off of a second place finish.
