Maricopa, Arizona (April 4, 2022) – The University of Wyoming Women's golf team  kicked off the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Monday hosting the first two rounds of play at the AK-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. Freshman Kyla Wilde led the Cowgirls through the first two rounds of play finishing the day tied for eighth while the Cowgirls currently sit in 15^th in the team standings.
 
Wilde started the day strong posting a first round score of 72 (E) and followed that up with a second-round score of 74 (+2) to finish the day with a total of 146 (+2) putting herself in great position to compete for a top 10 finish. Morgan Ryan posted a first day score of 157 (+13) to finish the first 36 holes of play tied for 67^th. Meghan Vogt and Jessica Zapf rounded out the Cowgirl lineup as they are both currently tied for 90^th.
 
Playing as individual, Cristiana Ciasca had an impressive day shooting a season low 73 (+1) in the opening round on her way to finishing the day tied for 28^th amongst the field while also leading the field of seven individuals playing. Also playing as individuals, Rachel Stoinski and Michelle Nguyen finished the day tied for 67^th and 104^th respectively.
 
As a team, the Cowgirls recorded a two score of 618 (+42) putting them in 15^th, three strokes ahead of 16^thplace Cal-State Fullerton with 18 holes left to play. Santa Clara leads the team race after day one with a score 585 (+9) sitting seven strokes ahead of second place Long Beach State. 
 
The Cowgirl classic will wrap up tomorrow morning with the final round of play set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. MT.
