Rancho Mirage, Cali. (April. 19, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirl Golf team was back at it on Tuesday at the Mountain West Championships completing the second round of play at the Mission Holes Golf Club. After 36 holes of play,
Kyla Wilde leads the way for Wyoming currently tied for 27
th while the Cowgirls sit in ninth as a team.
"We played more confident and decisive today, much more like our competitive fall season. I was really proud of the bounce back by Morgan and Meghan today." Head Women's Golf Coach
Josey Stender said, "Kyla's maturity and patience has really paid off all season and it is fun to see her being so competitive in such a strong field."
Wilde posted a second-round score of 77 (+5) to bring her total to 153 (+9) putting her in a tie for 27
th heading into the final round of play.
Samantha Hui shot a 79 (+7) in the second-round finishing just behind Wilde win a tie for 31
st with a total score of 155 (+11). The lowest round of the day by a Cowgirl came from
Morgan Ryan who bounced back with a 75 (+3) to finish the round tied for 36
th.
Meghan Vogt and
Jessica Zapf round out the lineup after two rounds currently tied for 39
th and 45
th respectively.
In the team standings, the Cowgirls remain in the ninth with a score of 622 (+46) sitting 12 strokes behind eighth place Nevada. No. 5 ranked San Jose State continues to hold the top spot with a score of 569 (-7) after the second day. Fresno State currently sits in second with a score of 594 (+18).
The Cowgirls will wrap up the Mountain West Championships tomorrow with the final 18 holes of play which is set to tee off 8:00 a.m. MT.
