LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 13, 2022) – The Wyoming tennis team returns to Laramie this weekend for their final two home matches of the season. The Cowgirls (8-11, 2-4 MW) welcome Utah State Friday, April 15 and Boise State April 16. Both matches are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
UW is coming off a tough road trip last weekend, losing to nationally-ranked San Diego State, 4-0 before falling at UNLV, 4-1 Sunday afternoon. The Cowgirls won the doubles point against UNLV, winning at the No. 2 and 3 spots. The tandem of Ana Fernandez and Sophie Zehender were victorious at the second position, 6-1, as they improved to 7-4 overall this spring as a team and are now 4-1 in league play. Mihaela Kaftanova and Lucia Malinak also won their doubles match and are 3-2 in MW play this spring.
Utah State comes into Friday's contest with a 6-9 mark overall and is 1-5 in conference play. The Aggies are 3-4 this spring on the road. Boise State, meanwhile, enters the weekend 7-4 and 3-3 in Mountain West play. The Broncos are 1-2 in true road matches in 2022.
Saturday will also be Senior Day at 7220 as Ida Krause and Mihaela Kaftanova will be honored prior to the match with Boise State.
