FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (3/8/22) – Day 2 of the 2022 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships came to a close Tuesday inside Wall Aquatic Center. Junior Melissa Mirafuentes, once again, paced the University of Wyoming.

Mirafuentes took a similar route as she did Monday. She placed 10th in prelims of the 3-meter event and improved her standing in the finals, finishing 8th with a final score of 300.15.

"I was really pleased with the way Melissa competed," diving head coach Ted Everett said. "She stayed within herself and did what she normally does."

Senior McKenna Houlihan placed 32nd in prelims of 3-meter, accumulating 244 points. Freshman Gabriella Hagler wasn't far behind in 34th with a final score of 241.

For the second consecutive day, sophomore Juan Gonzalez led the Cowboys. He finished 11th in platform with a final tally of 556.90, while senior Brendan Byrnes and junior Payton Lee took 14th and 15th, respectively, after recording scores of 526.40 and 425.45.

The Zone meet concludes Wednesday with the women competing on platform and the men participating on 1-meter.
