LARAMIE, Wyo. (3/5/22) – The season's NCAA Zone E Diving Championships marks University of Wyoming diving head coach
Ted Everett's third with the program. And as the old saying goes, the third time is a charm.
It's not as if Wyoming hasn't experienced success at the zone meet in years past – having boasted an NCAA qualifier each of the last two seasons. However this year, Everett will not only take the most divers he's ever taken to zones but he also feels as though they're diving as well as they have all season.
"That's been the thing that we've been working on since I've been here," Everett said. "My very first year, it felt like we peaked at the Air Force Invite and then hung on for dear life through conference and zones. Last year, I felt like we peaked right about conference and into zones.
"This year, I feel as though we have some good momentum going into zones."
Wyoming is sending six divers to the meet. Junior
Melissa Mirafuentes, senior
McKenna Houlihan and freshman
Gabriella Hagler along with sophomore
Juan Gonzalez, senior
Brendan Byrnes and junior
Payton Lee all earned their way to the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Competition begins Monday and concludes Wednesday.
