COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Four student athletes from the University of Wyoming Track & Field team have been announced as All-Mountain West selections for the 2022 Indoor Track and Field season. All four athletes garnered a top-three finish at last weekends Mountain West Track & Field Indoor Championships.
Shayla Howell is the lone Cowgirl to earn the title. Howell went a school-best 21-4.75 in the Long Jump to claim first in the event from Albuquerque, N.M.. Howell's mark ranks 10th in the country.
Three Cowboys are named as all league selections. Kareem Mersal and Hunter Brown earned the right after going one-two for the Pokes in the Long Jump while Jefferson Danso claimed third in the Triple Jump to make the podium in New Mexico.
Mersal led the field in the Long Jump with his mark of 23-11.25 while Brown came in right behind to take second with a jump of 23-5.5. Danso was the only Wyoming athlete to podium on Saturday with a mark of 48-6.25.
