COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field teams were back in action on Friday at the Invitational at the Peak hosted by the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

In action today were Wyoming throwers, sprinters and jumpers. After competing last week the distance runners did not compete this weekend. Six Cowboys and Cowgirls took first place in their respective events while a handful of others took top-three finishes.

THROWS

Addison Henry got the day started off right with a win in the Weight Throw. Henry bested the competition with a season-best throw of 58-1.75. Henry also notched the best finish of any Cowgirl taking third in the Shot Put with a mark of 48-0.75.

The Cowboys took a couple of second-place finishes on Friday afternoon. First up, Daniel Carrillo went 55-4.25 in the Weight Throw taking second in a field of nine throwers made up of Colorado State and Air Force Academy athletes. Mikey DeRock did the same in a field of 15, throwing 52-6.5 in the Shot Put.

Said Assistant Coach Carrie Lane, "I was impressed with Addi Henry and the grit she showed in both events. She kept her foot on the gas until the 6th round and it paid off with 2 seasons bests."

JUMPS

Hunter Brown had a busy day as the Cowboy followed up his first place finish in the Long Jump with a third place spot in the Triple Jump. Brown went 23-6.75 in the Long Jump and hit a mark of 47-6.25 in the Triple Jump.

Cowgirl teammates Shayla Howell and Sadie McMullen did what they have done time and time before by going one-two in the Long Jump. Howell went 20-3.50 for her first place finish and McMullen hit her mark of 19-4.75 on her fourth attempt.

Aumni Ashby beat out her competition in the Triple Jump and took first for the Pokes with her mark of 40-2.25.

Said Associate Head Coach Quincy Howe, "We are getting closer to championship readiness judging from the great performances today out of the jumps and multi Groups, quite a few season bests and personal records. Shayla was a standout today clipping the 20ft barrier with Sadie not too far behind. I am always encouraged when the team perform to the standard that we set regardless of who or where the competition is."

SPRINTS

On the track, Howell continued the trend of her first-place finishes by running a time of 7.59 in the 60M dash and securing the top spot. Kiona Gonzales-Gibbs went 26.65 in the 200M to earn the win for the Cowgirls.

For the men, Jaymison Cox and Carter Wilkerson went three-four in the 200M running times of 22.26 and 22.43. Cox bested the field in the 400M, running a 48.83 and taking the top spot in the race.
