LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 3, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team returns to action this weekend as they travel south to Mississippi for a pair of neutral-site matchups. UW will face Southeastern Louisiana February 5 and West Alabama February 6. Both matches will begin at noon and will be played in McComb, Miss.
The Cowgirls are coming off a 6-1 victory last weekend over Northeastern State, defeating the RiverHawks in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. UW (2-4) swept doubles play, winning all three matches while only dropping five games.
On the singles' side of things against NSU, the Cowgirls won 5-of-6 matches. Noesjka Brink won at the No. 2 singles position 6-0 and 6-3 to improve to 5-1 overall in dual matches this spring. At the fifth spot, Lucia Malinak blanked her opponent, winning 6-0 and 6-0. Ida Krause also won at her No. 4 position, winning 6-2, 6-0 to even her spring record to 3-3 overall.
This weekend will be third year in a row that the Cowgirls have traveled to McComb to play. Both West Alabama and Southeastern Louisiana have played sparingly thus far during the spring. SE Louisiana is just 0-1 on the season while West Alabama has played just a pair of exhibitions so far in 2022.
