COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (2/3/22) – The University of Wyoming divers took part in Day 1 of the Air Force Diving Invite on Thursday at the Cadet Natatorium.

Senior McKenna Houlihan led the way for UW. She finished ninth in the prelims of the 3-meter competition, totaling a score of 267.45. Junior Melissa Mirafuentes wasn't far behind, tallying 260.30 points to place 11th.

Mirafuentes went on to win the consolation final with a score of 285.90. Houlihan took third with 267.05 points.

Results for the men's 1-meter event not reported.

Overall, UW diving head coach Ted Everett was pleased with what he saw from his six divers Thursday.

"The field was loaded on both the men's and women's side of the competition, and nobody really wilted under the pressure," Everett said. "It was a bit of a mixed bag. We had some really good moments and some things we need to iron out before conference championships. Fortunately, everyone looked strong."

The competition continues tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the men on 3-meter and the women on 1-meter.
