LARAMIE, Wyo. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field Teams hosted the annual Power Meet from the Hager-LeBar Track & Field Venue on Friday afternoon. The Cowboys and Cowgirls welcomed the South Dakota School of Mines and St. Martins University (Seattle) for the first indoor meet of the season.
THROWS
The Cowgirls got the day off to a strong in the weight throw taking three of the top four spots led by Mary Carbee who won the event with a toss of 57-08.50. Christine Montler finished just behind her in second with a throw of 54-.04 while Mateya Mobley took fourth with a best toss of 50-10.75. On the men's side, Guy Hamasaki was the lone Cowboy to compete in the weight throw finishing third with a toss of 47-3.5.
It was another top finish for the Cowgirls in the shot put as Cosette Stellern powered her way to a win with a best toss of 44-4. Jordan Christensen opened her season with a second-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 43-1.75. Gabby Drube was also in action finishing in tenth with a mark of 30-2.25. In the Men's shot put, the Cowboys came away with a sweep as Cameron Burkett took first with a toss of 57-5.5 while Nathan Reid Finished second with a toss of 53-1.75. Gage Griffith rounded out the top three taking third with a toss of 49-8.5.
JUMPS
In the women's long jump the Cowgirls swept the podium led by Sadie McMullen who went 19-8 to finish in first while the duo of Joan Easter and Aumni Ashby finished in second and third respectively. Nyomi Moore finished just off the podium in third while Faith Jehu finished in seventh. On the men's side, it was a one-two finish for the Brown and Gold with Kareem Mersal going 25-0.5 to win the event with Hunter Brown finishing second with a mark of 24-6.5. Sage Coventry was also in action in the long jump taking fourth with a leap of 22-5.75.
Aumni Ashby was back in action in the triple jump winning the event with a leap of 40-10.5 while Elayna Chafee took second with a mark of 39-3. On the men's side Jefferson Danso picked up his first event win of the season with a leap of 48-7.5. Kaliff Guevara finished in second with a leap of 47-6.25.
In the men's high jump the Cowboys rolled with the trio of Hunter Brown, Pete Mead and Sage Coventry all clearing 6-6.75 for a one-two-three finish. On the women's side, Joan Easter came away with a first-place finish after clearing 4-11 while Gabby Drube took second after clearing 4-5.
Two Cowgirls were in action in the women's pole vault led by Kayla Stibley who finished second after clearing a height of 11-5.75. Madison Friend finished behind her in third after clearing 10-0.
SPRINTS
The Cowgirls swept the top four spots in the women's 55m led by Sadie McMullen who crossed the line in 7.29 to win her second event on the day. Haley Esser finished just behind her in second with a time of 7.32 while Tay'Maro Powell-Peters and Ellie Sanders rounding out the top four finishing in third and fourth respectively. On the men's side Carter McComb and Darius Wiggnis were the only two athletes to run in the finals finishing first and second respectively.
The Cowboys picked up a podium sweep in the 55M Hurdles as Jahiem Ferguson clocked a time of 7.73 to win the event with Caige McComb and Sage Coventry finishing second and third with times of 7.85 and 7.89 respectively. On the women's Gabby Drube was the only Cowgirl to compete in the 55M hurdles and she represented well taking first with a time of 8.47.
Jayden Friedly was the lone Cowgirl to compete in the 400M taking second with a time of 1:02.40.
Annie Vincent was the lone Cowgirl representative in the 200M taking third with a time of 27.60
The day was capped of the 4X400M relay as the team of Tay'Maro Powell-Peters, Haley Esser, Jenae Ramirez and Gabby Drube clocked a time of 4:00.65 to win the relay for the Cowgirls. The team of Kiona Gonzales-Gibbs, Annie Vincent, Emma Reed and Zoe Lemley finished second with a time of 4:18.22. The Cowboys also picked up a relay win with the team of Jahiem Ferguson, Darius Wiggins, Caige McComb and Jaymison Cox taking first with a time of 3:30.40.

The Pokes next competition is slated for after the new year when they will head to the Potts Invite in Boulder, Colo. on January 13th and 14th.
