LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 14, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team continued play Friday in Las Vegas at the ITA Mountain Region Championships. The Cowgirls saw action in both winner's bracket and "added match" contests.
Lucia Malinak lost her quarterfinal contest in Flight Two singles, dropping closely-contested match, 7-5 and 7-6 to Colorado State's Viktorya Zhadzinskaya. On the consolation side of things, the Cowgirls performed well as Noesjka Brink, Ana Fernandez, Maria Oreshkina and Sophie Zehender all picked up wins.
Brink won in straight sets over New Mexico's O'Connor, 6-3 and 6-2. Fernandez was victorious 6-4 and 6-4 over Krishnan of Utah Tech while Oreshkina survived for a straight sets win, 6-3 and 7-5 over Luneva of Nevada. Finishing up, Zehender defeated BYU's Moore, 6-4 and 6-4.
In doubles play, Nikol Dobrilova and Malinak were defeated in their matchup with Boise State's Baptista and Discenza, losing 8-3.
