COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 25, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowgirls continued their play down at the ITA Bedford Cup, hosted by the Air Force Academy Saturday, continuing with both doubles and singles play.

On the doubles side of things, the team of Maria Oreshkina and Lucia Malinak went 2-0 on the day, as they opened with a 6-4 victory over Guo and Dalla-Bona of Colorado State. They would finish the day with a hard-fought 7-6 win over Ecton and Puzak of Colorado.

Three other doubles teams earned victories Saturday, as the teams of Ana Fernandez and Sophie Zehender, Noesjka Brink and Mihaela Kaftanova and Serina Abriola and Ida Krause all split their two matches on the day. Fernandez and Zehender won 6-3, Brink and Kaftanova picked up a 6-4 win to open the day, while Abriola and Krause also opened with a win, 6-1, before losing in the second match of the day as a team.

On the singles' side, Kaftanova dropped her semifinal match in the Charlie Bracket with a three-set loss to CSU's Guo. Guo won 6-3, 3-6 and 7-6 (5). Kaftanova will play in the third-place match Sunday morning.

The Cowgirls got four singles' victories Saturday on the consolation side of the brackets. Abriola defeated Kotsyuba of Colorado State, 6-1 and 6-3, as she improved to 2-1 on the weekend. Brink won 6-3 and 6-3 over Matea Mihaljevic. Malinak took a 6-2, 7-5 win over Luna Urso of Idaho State, while Zehender rebounded from Friday with a 6-1 and 6-1 win over Mirte Van Baelen of Montana State.

UW concludes its opening fall weekend Sunday with the conclusion of play.
