Laramie, Wyo. (Sept. 25, 2021) --  Wyoming's Jimmy Dales moved up six places in the final round of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate to finish tied for 15th place, and the Wyoming Cowboys moved up three spots to tie for 13th as the third and final round was completed Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.

Dales shot an even-par round of 72 Saturday and concluded the 54-hole tournament with a 217 (+1) total.  He continued his consistent play in the final round, making four birdies, 10 pars and four bogeys for his 72 (Even) final round.

For Dales, it was his third consecutive Top 25 finish of the season in Wyoming's only three tournaments of the year, and it was his highest finish of the season.

As a team, the Cowboys shot their best round of the week, finishing up with a 295 (+7) in Saturday's third and final round.  That ranked as the seventh best round on Saturday among the 18 teams competing in the tournament.  Wyoming's three-round total was 898 (+34), tying them with Santa Clara for 13th.

Contributing to that strong final round as a team were three Cowboys, who shot their low rounds of the week on the final day.  Bryce Waters shot a 73 (+1) Saturday.  Kirby Coe-Kirkham posted a 74 (+2), and Tyler Severin shot a 76 (+4).

"We played a better today and moved up three spots, which was a good way to end the tournament," said Joe Jensen, University of Wyoming Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach.  "I think our round today was in the top half of the teams.  Jimmy (Dales) obviously had a nice tournament, and we had several players shoot their low rounds of the week.

"To be a successful team, you have to put together three rounds each tournament and right now we're playing well for about one and a half rounds.  But we have a chance to get right back on the course.  We'll play a practice round tomorrow at the Mark Simpson Invitational and then will get another opportunity to improve next Monday and Tuesday at that event."

BYU won the team championship, shooting an 841 (-23) total.  Aidan Thomas of New Mexico State captured the individual medalist honors, firing a 207 (-9).

Wyoming will play Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 27-28 in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in Erie, Colo., at the Colorado National Golf Club.

The William H. Tucker Intercollegiate was played on the UNM Championship Golf Course.  The course measured 7,555 yards and played to a par of 72.
