LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 15, 2021) – The Wyoming women's tennis team puts its three-match winning streak on the line this weekend, as the Cowgirls travel down to Fort Collins, Colo., Saturday and Sunday for matches against UNLV and San Diego State, respectively. The action begins at 2 p.m., April 17 and 1 p.m., April 18.

Wyoming (9-6, 3-2 MW) is coming off a pair of victories last weekend at home, making quick work of Nevada in the first match of the weekend, 4-0 and closed with a solid 4-2 victory over Fresno State in Sunday's win. With the two wins, the Cowgirls completed a perfect 4-0 mark at home this season, marking the fourth time in program history and third time under Head Coach Dean Clower, that Wyoming has finished the season undefeated at home, when playing at least four matches in a season in Laramie.

Last weekend against the Wolf Pack and Bulldogs, the Cowgirls won both doubles points in the matches and were led by Ana Fernandez, who went 2-0 at No. 3 singles on the weekend, winning in straight sets in both. Fernandez also won at No. 2 doubles against FSU, along with partner Sophie Zehender.

Lucia Malinak, who secured the victory for Wyoming against Fresno State, behind the strength of her 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 5 singles spot, has won three consecutive singles matches, the longest current streak on the squad. Zehender and Brink lead the team with 10 and nine singles' victories, respectively. On the doubles side of play, Fernandez and Zehender lead the Cowgirls with 10 wins as a duo, while Mihaela Kaftanova and Ida Krause have nine victories as a tandem.

UNLV enters Saturday's match 9-5 overall and 5-1 in Mountain West play, with its lone loss coming to Fresno State, 4-3. The Lady Rebels are 5-1 in neutral site matches this spring, while UW is perfect 4-0 in such matches.

SDSU (5-5, 3-3 MW) enters the weekend having won both of its matches last weekend at home, 4-0, over New Mexico and Air Force. The Aztecs have played just two matches away from home this season, both of which were losses.
