GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 19, 2021) – Sophomore
Melissa Mirafuentes continued her 2021 NCAA Diving Championship on Friday morning in the 3-meter board.
After a performance in the 1-meter with a score of 254.60 on Thursday, she followed it up with a 43rd place result and a mark of 245.35. The top eight advance to the finals and the next eight competitors take part in the consolation final.
"It was kind of a rough day for Melissa in the 3-meter today," head diving
Ted Everett said. "She looked a little nervous and tired. Hopefully, she can rest and regroup for a strong comeback on the platform tomorrow."
Mirafuentes will close out the competition tomorrow in the platform where she is a two-time Mountain West Champion in the event. The prelims are set for 10:30 a.m. MT followed by the finals at approximately 5 p.m. The event is taking place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
